Episode 4, Have You Had Your Teeth Floated? Sonny-D has!
Dakota Lee gets up close with her horse to show you what teeth floating is. Equine Dentistry is the fancy name for a horse dentist and in this episode Sonny-D gets his teeth ground down with a large power tool called a Rasp. The molars on horses are continually growing. This happens because horses are meant for eating grass all day every day. Sometimes only the inside of the molars gets worn down, making the part of the teeth closer to a horses cheek very sharp. Then it’s time for teeth floating! DakotaLee.com

that was halarious my mother is a dentail hygenist and sometimes i help her out and i just couldnt help but laugh and watch the vet grind down the horses teeth!
I liked seeing how Sonny-D’s head was held up. My mom says that’s not how they used to do it–rasps weren’t power tools then.
wow that was soooooooooooooooo cool
Thanks coka coola (again), AMW, and Rebecca just for commenting
Coka Coola- It was really funny to watch. The first time I saw a horse getting it’s teeth floated I was about 9, and all I could think was ‘back away slowly’.
AMW- It must have taken 10 minutes just to figure out how to hook up Sonny-D’s head holder! The vet said she could grind down his teeth without the power tool, but whenever she had to do it, it made her really sore. I think she made the right choice with the power tool.
Rebecca- I thought so too!
